Step 1: Link Your Account by Logging In from Desktop or Mobile Browser #
The app needs to recognize that you have active access to the Trading Room.
To establish this connection, you need to log into the Trading Room from your computer or mobile browser first.
Go to thetechtrader.com/login on your computer or mobile browser, log in to your account, then launch the Trading Room from your dashboard.
Enter the room completely (you don’t need to stay long – just make sure you’ve fully entered).
This links the Trading Room to your account and makes it visible to the mobile app for notifications.
Step 2: Sync Available Rooms in the App #
After you’ve accessed the room from the website, you need to refresh the app so it recognizes your access.
Open the PTR Trading Room mobile app on your phone and navigate to the Rooms section at the bottom of the screen. Look for the “Sync Available Rooms” button and tap it to refresh your room list.
The Trading Room should now appear in your app, and alerts should start coming through consistently.
Step 3: Verify You’re Using the Same Email Address #
This is critical: The email address you use to log into the app must exactly match the email address on your Tech Trader membership account. If these don’t match, you won’t receive alerts.
To check your app email: Open the mobile app, go to Accounts / Settings (bottom right), and verify the email address shown.
To check your membership email: Log in to thetechtrader.com on your computer or mobile browser, click My Profile in the left navigation, and check the email address listed.
If these don’t match: Update your email in the app to match your membership account, or contact support at support@thetechtrader.com to update your membership email.
Important: Log In at Least Once Every 2 Weeks #
To maintain access to alerts on the mobile app, you must log into the Trading Room at least once every 2 weeks from your computer or mobile browser.
Why this matters: If you don’t log in within 2 weeks, the room will stop appearing in the PTR alert app and you’ll stop receiving notifications.
To maintain consistent alerts: Every 2 weeks (or more often), log into the Trading Room from thetechtrader.com on your computer or mobile browser, enter the room, then open your mobile app and tap “Sync Available Rooms”. This keeps your app connected and ensures alerts continue flowing.
Additional Troubleshooting Steps #
If you’ve completed all the steps above and alerts are still inconsistent, try these solutions:
Check Your Notification Settings in the App #
Open the mobile app, go to Accounts / Settings (bottom right), review your push notification settings, and make sure alerts are enabled for swing trades specifically.
Check Your Phone’s Notification Settings #
For iPhone: Go to your phone’s Settings, scroll down and find the Tech Trader app, tap Notifications, make sure Allow Notifications is turned ON, and ensure alerts are set to show on Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners.
For Android: Go to your phone’s Settings, tap Apps or Applications, find and tap the Tech Trader app, tap Notifications, and make sure notifications are turned ON.
Try Logging Out and Back In #
Log out of the mobile app completely, close the app entirely (swipe it away from your recent apps), reopen the app, log back in using your email and PIN, then tap “Sync Available Rooms”.
Reinstall the App #
If nothing else works, try a fresh install.
Delete the Tech Trader app from your phone, go back to the Trading Room on your computer, click the phone icon in the upper-right corner (next to The Tech Trader logo), use the App Store link provided to download the app again, log in using the email and PIN shown, then tap “Sync Available Rooms”.
Reminder: How to Get Your App Link & PIN #
If you need to reinstall the app or verify your login credentials:
Log into your Tech Trader account at thetechtrader.com, launch the Trading Room from your dashboard, and in the upper-right corner of the Trading Room (next to The Tech Trader logo), click the light blue phone icon (rectangle shape). Your App Store link, email, and PIN will be displayed.
